Combatants for Peace: “Billboard from Bethlehem”
…where the enemy gets a face
On Feb. 27, Squeaky Wheel Productions held a screening of this 1-hour film documentary featuring former Israeli soldiers and former Palestinian fighters, followed by a talk and reception with Producer/Director Bruce Barrett of IWagePeace.org
and former Israel Defense Forces paratrooper Elik Elhanan.
“The Combatants for Peace and The Billboard from Bethlehem: Where the enemy gets a face,” is a compelling film chosen for the 2009 Kent Film Festival, which tells the stories of former Israeli soldiers and Palestinian combatants who come together with 100 children to paint a giant mural in the West Bank advocating a peaceful resolution to the decades-long Middle East conflict. The film, produced and directed by Bruce Barrett of IWagePeace.org, provides insight into the roots of the ongoing bloody conflict and provokes substantive discussion on how the obstacles to an enduring peace can be overcome.
